Jennifer Crow is the Executive Director of the Kansas Coalition for School Readiness. The Coalition joins the efforts of business, community and early childhood/education leaders to influence state legislation that will increase access to, funding for and the quality of early childhood services in Kansas.

Jennifer earned her undergraduate degree from Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa and returned to Kansas to teach school. She taught fifth grade in both inner city and suburban settings while also directing several after school and summer programs for at risk kids. She later earned a law degree from Washburn Law School in Topeka, Kansas.

After practicing trial law for two years in Kansas City, she was invited by Governor Kathleen Sebelius to join the Governor’s personal staff as Legislative Liaison and Social Services Advisor to the Governor. Her work on early childhood expansion in the Governor’s Office led to her selection as Executive Director of the Kansas Coalition for School Readiness.

Under Jennifer’s leadership, the Coalition has grown to over 20,000 members statewide. In 2008, the Coalition secured an historic $14.3 million investment in Kansas’ early learning system and restored an early childhood focus to the Children’s Initiatives Fund which had weakened over time. Gains were also made toward establishment of a Kansas Preschool Program for three- and four-year-olds across the state.
