Early Head Start Mission
To promote family unity, attachment and self-sufficiency for pregnant teens and families with young children.
Every child is born ready to learn, grow and succeed.
Children who receive positive, responsive care from their parents in the first years of life enjoy an important head start toward success in their lives. Program Information

Early Head Start:

  • For pregnant women and families with children birth to age 3 (child must be enrolled by 30 months)
  • Family receives weekly home visits from a family educator (1.5 hours)
  • Family attends weekly socialization and Parent Education class (2.5 hours)
  • Families must meet Federal Income Guidelines
  • Children may have suspected and/or diagnosed disability

Year around services are provided to 100 children and pregnant women in the Sedgwick County area through a community support network that includes health providers, parenting education providers, and child development professionals.

 

Kansas Early Head Start:

  • For families who have children birth to age 4 and who work and / or go to school 30 hours a week (child must be enrolled by 42 months)
  • Children attend free full day, full year child care in an Early Head Start Partner Site
  • Families receive monthly home visits from a Family Educator (1.5 hours)
  • Families must meet Federal Income Guidelines
  • Children may have suspected and/or diagnosed disability.

Year around services are provided to 92 children in the Sedgwick County area through a community support network that includes licensed child care professionals, health providers, parenting education providers, and child development professionals.

Early Head Start also offers family and social services referrals for enrolled children and their families.
