Child Start Identification

We have heard recently from several child care providers that some of you have been approached by individuals saying that they are from the Child Care Association.

As you know, this organization changed its name in May, 2006, from Child Care Association of Wichita/Sedgwick County to Child Start, Inc.  Anyone who appears at your door claiming to be from Child Care Association is NOT one of our employees.

Our policy is that our employees wear name badges that prominently show our name, Child Start, Inc., the employee’s name, and a photo - you should be able to look at the name badge photo and tell whether it matches the looks of the person at your door.  Anyone who claims to be from us (even if using our old name) but who is not wearing a Child Start name badge, may be trying to gain access to your home through deception.

You are always welcome to call Child Start at 316-682-1853 (or toll free at 800-684-3962 for Referral or 800-680-3902 for CACFP) to confirm that the person at your door is our employee and what the purpose of the visit is.

As always, we encourage you to use your judgment in talking with people who present themselves at your door, whatever their purpose may be.  If an employee of Child Start comes to your home, he or she will be wearing our identification badge, and we will be glad to confirm whether he or she is there on official Child Start business.
