Tools of the Trade 

TOOLS OF THE TRADE is a series of three workshops offered by Child Start free of charge to family child care providers new to the business.  The purpose of these workshops is to share information and resources to help get your  family child care business off to a good start.

Part 1: This orientation helps those NEW to the field set up a successful home business.  Topics include: creating children's files, record keeping, marketing, contracts, policies, taxes, and insurance.  Core competencies VII: Program Planning and Development; Program Planning and Evaluation, level 2, b.  CDA: 5, Program Management.  Audience: Family Child Care Providers

Part 2: This orientation sets the stage for providing high quality services for young children in the home setting.  Topics covered include setting up your home, transitions, lesson plans, and behavior management.  Core competencies II: Learning Environment & Curriculum; Creating the Learning Environment & General Curriculum, Level 2, a & b. CDA: 2, Physical and Intellectual Competence.  Audience: Family Child Care Providers

Part 3: This orientation helps set the stage for parent involvement in family child care homes.  Participants will learn different ways to involve parents in their family home and how to communicate effectively with parents.  Core competencies IV: Families and Communities; Relationships with Families, Level 2, b. CDA: 4, Relationships with Families.  Audience: Family Child Care Providers

You will receive a total of 6 in-service hours if you attend all three classes.

Tools of the Trade workshops will be held at Child Start, 1069 Parklane Office Park, Wichita.  (South section of Parklane Shopping Center, lower level at Lincoln and Oliver).
